The Mission
The mission of the Talking Information Center is to provide visually-impaired and print-handicapped people access to the printed word and to provide audience-specific information in the form of timely broadcast programming.
Programming
Programming includes the broadcasts of daily and weekly national and regional newspapers as well as magazines, such as the Boston Globe, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek along with business and tabloid publications.
Specific subject areas include the obituaries, medical updates, job listings, stock market updates, sports, supermarket specials, voting guides, community newspapers, and television programs.
Book readings are broadcast every evening as well as cultural programming that includes old-time radio drama, theatre, music and poetry.
Affiliates
Local studios are located in Mashpee, Pittsfield, Lowell, Marshfield, Springfield, Worcester, as well as in Boston at the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. Our affiliates bring local and national news that are specific and pertinent to the listeners in their areas. Broadcasts reach all of Massachusetts as well as Southern New Hampshire and Connecticut.
By turning print into sound, TIC strives to make a difference in the lives of our listeners, many of whom are isolated from the wealth of information available to the sighted world. If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, please contact us.
